Latifa Echakhch, Tkaf
Red brick and pigment
Echakhch’s installation “Tkaf” (Moroccan dialect for magic spell) is a recreation of a place in Morocco that is believed to be connected to witchcraft.
The installation becomes an immersion, as the local ground’s deep red mud is reconstructed using red brick and pigment that covers the exhibition grounds, and the walls are smeared red with handprints.
